After enterprises integrate generative AI and agents into their production environments, the demand for security measures surrounding models, toolchains, and operational phases is rapidly increasing. AI A security startup named HiddenLayer has completed a $100 million Series B financing round, indicating that this niche market has entered a phase of accelerated expansion.

Enterprise spending continues to rise.

TechCrunch reports that a few years ago, the market was still debating whether attacks targeting the AI model were common enough to sustain an independent market. Today, as companies deploy more AI tools, agents, and plugins, security vendors have begun to launch monitoring and protection products in a concentrated manner.

Gartner It is estimated that companies will spend $2.83 billion on AI security products this year, representing an 83% increase from 2025; by next year, this figure is expected to rise to nearly $4.78 billion. Although there are not many publicly reported large-scale attack cases, the risks of out-of-control situations, manipulation, and malicious injections in production environments have prompted companies to accelerate their purchasing efforts.

The company claims that ARR has increased by more than 10 times in one year.

HiddenLayer is headquartered in Austin, USA, and primarily provides protection tools for models, intelligents, and AI workflows, covering scenarios such as counterattacks, vulnerability exploitation, and malicious code injection. The company claims that its annual recurring revenue has grown by more than 10 times over the past year and has now reached tens of millions of dollars in scale.

The company's CEO, Chris Sestito, stated that over 90% of the growth in the past year came from new customers. At present, the company's clients are mainly concentrated in the financial services and large technology companies sectors, including contracts related to the U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence systems. The report also mentioned that one of the company's clients is a leading model provider with over 700 million users per week, but the specific name was not disclosed.

Funding directed towards sales and European expansion

This round of financing was led by Delta-v and Capital, with participation from Ten Eleven Ventures, Morgan Stanley, M12 under Microsoft, Booz Allen Hamilton, and others. The company stated that the new funds will be primarily used to expand sales and distribution capabilities, while also continuing to increase investment in engineering and research, as well as to advance expansion into European and EMEA markets.

HiddenLayer's current products still revolve around discovery, runtime protection, attack simulation, and supply chain security, but the focus has expanded from traditional machine learning models to generative AI and agent-based scenarios. The company states that recent changes are not a complete transformation, but rather an expansion of existing capabilities to address new risks such as prompt word injection, agent manipulation, and malicious tool invocation.

The company also mentioned that runtime security is becoming a more prioritized aspect when deploying AI. Its role is similar to that of terminal detection and response in traditional network security, but in this case, it applies to the AI system itself. At the same time, market competition is intensifying, and HiddenLayer will need to prove that its early-mover advantage can be transformed into sustained business growth.
