Taiwan ORing promotes the development of global railway on-board connectivity
Taipei, September 29, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- ORing Industrial Networking, an industrial networking expert headquartered in Taiwan with 20 years of market experience, launched its new generation of IRoN railway Ethernet switch product portfolio at InnoTrans 2026. Leveraging its long-term experience in product development and practical deployment, ORing helps railway operators and system integrators build reliable and secure onboard networks to meet the growing interconnection needs of railway systems.
ORing indicates that its network products have been deployed in passenger and freight railway projects across Europe, the United States, and Asia. This track record has also shaped the company's philosophy regarding railway networks: maintaining reliability over the long lifecycle of vehicles, ensuring interoperability between suppliers, and facilitating integration are all essential considerations.
As trains carry an increasing number of networked devices and high-data-consumption services, on-board networks must handle critical control communications, video surveillance, and passenger information services on the same infrastructure simultaneously. The IRoN series is designed to meet these requirements, with some models offering time-sensitive networks (TSN), 10GbE connections, or PoE++ depending on configuration. The company states that these options simplify wiring and device management while maintaining the performance and predictability required for railway time-sensitive communications. Operators can choose the appropriate configuration based on their applications and reserve space for adding more services and devices as operational needs evolve in the future.
Security is integrated into the product design, rather than being added afterwards. ORing indicates that the IRoN series is being developed in accordance with the security requirements of IEC level 2 (62443-4-2), and it is expected to obtain certification. The relevant development also takes into account the requirements of the European Union's 'Cyber Resilience Act', which deals with protection at the device level and aims to help customers prepare in advance for the increasingly stringent regulatory requirements. At the exhibition, ORing also showcased a power supply device controlled by ignition, which can respond to the start and stop signals of vehicles.
ORing indicates that, with its continuously expanding EN 50155 product portfolio and proven deployment history, the company is able to provide the technical expertise that railway projects increasingly require.
