TEWKSBURY, Mass. On September 29th, PRNewswire -- Pickering Interfaces launched the 65-217, which is a modular, Ethernet-controlled 2A LXI matrix that allows test engineers to expand system capacity as requirements change. This new plug-and-play module is designed specifically for the 65-200 expandable LXI chassis platform and also simplifies maintenance. It supports RF crosstalk measurement on unterminated signal paths, which is a specific requirement in certain aerospace and automotive applications.
Pickering, the person in charge of product management, Steve Edwards stated: "65-217 provides users with a practical approach to start with the matrix size required for today, and then expand later on. A 65-200 chassis can accommodate up to six plug-in modules, forming a single matrix rather than multiple independent 64x8 units. The control software handles the path recognition offset between the modules, thereby reducing programming complexity."
Each plug-in module includes an additional 64x8, 1-pole matrix, allowing for a maximum configuration of 384x8 within a 19-inch, 2U chassis. The modules are installed from the front, so users do not need to remove the chassis from the test rack in order to add or replace modules. The product is available in versions with or without a front panel for Y-axis access; the Y-axis bypass connection with switches supports matrix expansion across multiple chassis.
The dual Y-axis simulation bus allows multiple external instruments to access different parts of the matrix, and it is also possible to divide the system into two independent matrices. In addition, Y-axis nodes with switches can disconnect unused parts to help maximize bandwidth.
The relay cycle counting function can help users plan preventive maintenance and balance the usage of various signal paths. The integrated BIRST (built-in relay self-check) and the optional external eBIRST self-check tool can identify faulty or worn-out relays. Each plug-in module is also equipped with a spare relay to simplify maintenance and reduce downtime.
65-217 can switch to a maximum of 300 VDC or 250 VAC, 2A, with a maximum power rating of 60W or 62.5 VA. This product comes with a Pickering standard three-year warranty and long-term product support guarantee.
