According to a report by Bloomberg on Tuesday, OpenAI is in talks with investors to raise at least $30 billion before listing, with a valuation of approximately $1.4 trillion.

Investors are eager to invest more funds in this ChatGPT developer before it is expected to list on the public market next year. The report also states that although Anthropic briefly surpassed OpenAI at the beginning of the year, OpenAI has recently refocused on key areas such as coding, driving its annual revenue to grow by 70% since July and reaching $40 billion in August.

The company previously raised $122 billion in financing in March with a valuation of $852 billion. That round of financing was originally considered to be its last private round before going public, and not long ago, the market still expected its IPO to take place this year. However, CEO Sam Altman has now ruled out the possibility of a public offering in 2026, stating that the company will give priority to artificial intelligence security.

“I think that there is about a 10% chance of killing everyone by the end of this decade, which is unacceptable,” he said recently in an interview with Fortune in response to security researchers’ warnings that AI poses a survival risk to humanity.

Bloomberg reported that if this round of financing is ultimately completed, it will serve as a bridging fund towards IPO.

OpenAI has not responded to TechCrunch's request for a comment.

The US SEC and CFTC will regulate the crypto market amidst leadership reductions
As SEC Commissioner Hester Pierce is set to leave her position, there will be a total of 7 vacant commissioner seats at the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission after this Friday, leaving only 3 commissioners in charge of regulating the crypto industry, which has now reached a scale of $3 trillion. Since Congress has not passed the Digital Assets Clarification Act, both agencies are still advancing crypto regulation through rule-making rather than legislation.
