The newly launched nBND and vault hold shares of Fidelity Total Bond ETF (Nasdaq ticker: FBND). This ETF is an actively managed fund that primarily invests in investment-grade, high-yield, and emerging market debt securities.
New York, October 5th / PRNewswire / -- The open finance platform targeting institutional assets, Plume, today announced the launch of a new nBND. The platform stated that for the first time, configurators can access a tokenized treasury supported by Fidelity Total Bond ETF ( FBND ) as the main reserve asset.
Plume indicates that the maturity of the on-chain capital market requires access to diversified assets that have been tested by the market and are managed by world-class financial institutions. Through this vault, Plume is supporting the development of a robust fixed-income market, rather than merely providing another isolated opportunity for returns.
Plume, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Chris Yin stated: "Although the fixed-income market on the blockchain initially focused on short-duration U.S. Treasury bonds and money market equivalents, these are merely the starting points, not the endpoints. Institutional investors desire longer maturities and active management, and these are precisely the fundamental components they use off-chain."
This year, the market size of tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds grew from $12 billion in April 2026 to $15 billion in June 2026, just two months later. Compared to the global fixed-income market, which has a scale of over $100 trillion in assets, this is still just a small portion of it. The original text states that if the entire market were to be tokenized as many respected asset management executives expect, the growth opportunities would be quite considerable.
Plume indicates that promoting the development of this market requires cooperation between crypto-native institutions and traditional financial institutions in order to bridge the technological infrastructure of blockchain with the professional capabilities and institutional trust established by traditional finance over the decades.
The company stated that there is a clear demand from institutions for verified, revenue-generating assets on the blockchain, and this vault will ensure that this development moves onto the next stage.
Fidelity Investments Head of Digital Asset Management Cynthia Lo Bessette stated: "As tokenized assets and on-chain applications increasingly integrate into the mainstream market infrastructure, a collaborative ecosystem is crucial for expanding investment channels. We are delighted to cooperate with Plume to bring financial products onto the blockchain, providing investors with greater programmability to build customized portfolios, as well as investment solutions that unlock new types of collateral uses and financing channels."
