IDEMIA Public Security announces that its WebCapture SDK has passed an independent assessment by BixeLab. In 900 attack attempts, not a single one was successful in bypassing the system, with a false rejection rate of 0.67%. The assessment shows that the product meets the corresponding "substantial" level requirements under the CEN / TS 18099:2024 framework.

Coulouvray, France, October 5, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- IDEMIA Public Security Today announced that its WebCapture SDK has completed an independent assessment aimed at testing its ability to identify and prevent increasingly sophisticated biometric fraud attacks, including deep fakes and AI identity generation.

This assessment was conducted by an independent testing organization, BixeLab, to determine whether attackers could deceive the system by injecting forged biometric data into the authentication process. Among 900 attack attempts, not a single one was successful in bypassing the system. The test covered 10 different types of injection attack tools, involving various attack methods such as deep fakes, face swapping, replay attacks, face modification, and avatar reenactment attacks. BixeLab concluded that, within the scope of this assessment, WebCapture SDK v3.38 met the Level 2 (substantial) assessment requirements consistent with CEN / TS 18099:2024, and are suitable for the tested injection attack tools and methods.

"As deep fakes and injection attacks become more complex and easier to obtain, independent testing has become increasingly important to ensure that biometric systems can withstand real-world threats," said Ted Dunstone, CEO of BixeLab. "Testing against recognized standards such as CEN / TS 18099 can provide institutions with objective evidence that these protective measures are effective in practice."

In addition to preventing fraud attempts, this technology also performs well in real user scenarios. In real user baseline tests, there were only two classification errors among 300 legitimate user transactions, resulting in a real user classification error rate of ( BPCER ) 0.67%.

"As fraud driven by AI continues to evolve, organizations need to be confident that their authentication systems can keep up with these changes," said Virginie Flam, Global Head of Intelligent Biometrics and Senior Vice President at IDEMIA Public Security. "This independent verification demonstrates our commitment to helping organizations protect themselves from emerging threats while maintaining a simple experience for legitimate users."

The assessment was conducted in accordance with the CEN / TS 18099 framework, which represents a leading industry standard for assessing the resistance to biometric injection attacks. The results indicate that the product possesses strong protection capabilities against a variety of known attack methods.

As more and more fraudsters use AI to generate content that impersonates real people, organizations are seeking stronger defense measures to counter deep fakes and other synthetic identity attacks. The authentication technology of IDEMIA Public Security combines biometric live detection with advanced fraud prevention capabilities, aiming to ensure that those completing the authentication process are indeed present and have genuine identities. This independent assessment provides evidence of the solution's ability to withstand the biometric injection attack methods and tools tested.

By combining trusted biometric identification, advanced liveness detection, and fraud prevention capabilities, IDEMIA Public Security helps institutions to verify identities with confidence while providing a secure and seamless digital experience. Researchers are tracking a Chinese AI "proxy fleet"
A group of independent researchers claim to have discovered a batch of AI proxies active on the internet, which seem to be operating on Tencent's infrastructure and are conducting queries targeting Alibaba's mapping service, Gaode (Amap). The researchers noted that there appears to be no communication between these proxies, and they are more akin to a “fleet of proxies” rather than a “swarm”.
