Samsung Electro-Mechanics stated on Tuesday that it has signed a contract worth 290 billion Korean won (equivalent to $215.8 million) with a global company to supply multi-layer ceramic capacitors ( MLCC ) for AI servers.

The electronic components company under Samsung Electronics stated that the contract is valid from January 2027 to December 2027.

Bound by confidentiality agreements, the company has not disclosed the identities of its clients.

This is the sixth long-term supply agreement announced by Samsung Electro-Mechanics this year.

The company has signed multiple long-term supply contracts this year, with a total scale of 3.9 trillion Korean won. The products include AI silicon capacitors for servers, multi-layer ceramic capacitors, and inductors.

Multilayer ceramic capacitors are key electronic components used to regulate and stabilize the current in circuits, and are widely applied in smartphones, personal computers, automotive electronics, as well as AI servers.

Multi-layer ceramic capacitors for AI servers require more advanced manufacturing processes compared to those used in mobile devices.

According to data from Goldman Sachs, the global market size of AI servers MLCC is expected to grow from $1.4 billion in 2025 to $5.8 billion in 2030, with an average annual compound growth rate of about 34%.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics stated that the company maintains a leading position in the global AI server MLCC market, with a market share of over 40%.
