Hernandez, Virginia, October 6, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Exostar Today, we are launching Exostar Secure Exchange ™, a new application within our CMMC Ready Suite ™ suite designed to help defense contractors and authorized personnel both within and outside the organization to securely exchange controlled non-classified information ( Controlled Unclassified Information, CUI ). Secure Exchange combines chat-based messaging with file sharing in a protected environment, ensuring that sensitive conversations remain linked to the documents that support them.

National defense operations rely on the operation of CUI. Drawings, specification documents, and inquiries regarding sensitive work are exchanged daily among customers, main contractors, and suppliers. Protecting this information solely within a single company only solves part of the problem. The team also needs a secure method to discuss and share this information with the next company in the supply chain.

Secure Exchange provides a dedicated space for these communications. Teams can ask questions, attach supporting documents, and continue to dialogue with authorized recipients. Messages and attachments are protected by end-to-end encryption in the Microsoft GCC High environment and meet the equivalent requirements of FedRAMP Moderate.

Exostar Chief Revenue Officer Derrick Reig stated: "Our customers need protection CUI, while at the same time fulfilling our commitments to the companies that depend on us. This means handing over drawings to suppliers, answering questions, and moving work forward in a secure manner. Secure Exchange extends the value of our CMMC Ready Suite to these daily interactions within the defense supply chain."

Secure Exchange can assist organizations in:

  • Discuss sensitive work across company boundaries. Include authorized recipients in personal or group conversations, and control the scope of participation.
  • Keep the file associated with the conversation. By selecting a file in the file panel of the conversation, you can jump to the message where that file was shared, including any related questions or explanations.
  • Identify information that requires protected handling. Add the CUI marker to messages and attachments before sending them.
  • Maintain work progress during a change in responsibilities. Transfer the conversation management rights to another eligible participant, while preserving all existing messages and files.

Exostar Chief Product Officer Jeff Ladner stated: "A single document can rarely tell the whole story. There is often an underlying issue, an explanation, or additional information that someone needs before taking action. Secure Exchange keeps the conversation and the document together, allowing the authorized recipient to understand the request and respond within the same secure workspace."

Exostar Secure Exchange is built upon Exostar Community. This community connects 65,000 active organizations within the national defense industry infrastructure (DIB), and to date, it has attracted 1.4 million users to join the platform. Users log in through Exostar Managed Access Gateway (MAG) and join the conversations they are authorized to access. Email notifications bring participants back to the application without exposing the conversation topics, messages, or attachments.

These functions collectively support the protection of CUI and the preparation for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification ( CMMC ). Customers are still responsible for authorized sharing, proper handling, and the implementation of the security controls assigned to them.

Secure Exchange is already included in the CMMC Ready Suite of existing customers, and new customers can also use it through this suite. This product is not sold separately.
