News from the IT community on October 7th: A source from Aaron Perris tweeted on the X platform yesterday (October 6th), revealing that during the update to iOS 27.2 Beta, Apple introduced new code that allows users of models such as iPhone 18 Pro to directly control nearby smart home devices on the Dynamic Island.

The message states that the new HomeKit code includes a "proximity manager" ( proximity manager ). When users approach compatible smart home devices, the Dynamic Island will automatically display relevant control options. Users can quickly adjust home settings such as lighting and temperature within the Dynamic Island without having to open the "Home" App.

Tech analyst Aaron (@aaronp613) shared a simulated rendering of this feature on the X platform (AI), demonstrating how the dynamic island presents the smart home control interface.
