Anthropic IPO News: Nasdaq 100 to be quickly included in rules or enter index funds within weeks
It is reported that Anthropic is preparing to list on NASDAQ this fall. Reuters suggests that roadshows could begin as early as mid-October, with the listing expected to be completed before the mid-term elections in November. However, nothing is final until the public prospectus is submitted, and the timeline for IPO is also subject to frequent changes.
If Anthropic goes public with a valuation of approximately $2 trillion, as investors reportedly expect, it will exceed the threshold for the top 40 under Nasdaq's "Fast Track" rules in May 2026 and may join Nasdaq-100 after 15 trading days. More than $800 billion in funds track this index, so funds like QQQ will have to buy its shares.
SpaceX followed the same path: after its listing on June 12, it was included in the index on July 7. JPMorgan Chase estimates that about $4.3 billion in passive funds flowed into it. However, since the index weights are calculated only based on tradable stocks, SpaceX had a weight of less than 1% when it was included. On the day of inclusion, the stock's price fell by nearly 6%.
