The global alternative investment management firm Brevan Howard manages assets worth approximately $35 billion and will utilize Ripple Prime to carry out multi-asset principal brokerage, clearing, and financing services in both traditional and digital markets. This expanded collaboration is built upon the foundation of the Brevan Howard affiliated fund's participation in a $500 million strategic investment round of Ripple in 2025.
However, Ripple has not disclosed which assets Brevan Howard will trade, whether the transactions will be settled through XRP Ledger, or whether XRP or RLUSD will be used under this authorization.
Ripple Prime is far more than just a XRP transaction.
Ripple Prime acquired Hidden Road for $1.25 billion from Ripple, and this transaction made the latter company the owner of a global multi-asset principal broker.
Currently, the platform handles over $3 trillion in settlements for more than 300 institutional clients each year, covering digital assets, foreign exchange, fixed income, derivatives, swaps, and precious metals.
The acquisition of Hidden Road has created a potential connection between these markets and the blockchain infrastructure of Ripple, but using Ripple Prime does not mean that every transaction will involve XRP.
Ripple Prime already supports dozens of digital assets as well as traditional financial products. Its US spot brokerage services include XRP and RLUSD, and Ripple has also discussed using XRP as collateral for institutions.

XRP What aspects might it benefit from in the future?
Ripple indicates that XRP and RLUSD support its broader institutional capabilities, while Ripple Prime has been continuously integrating blockchain settlement infrastructure.
This has brought several possible paths for XRP: settlement, collateral, liquidity, or cross-market transfer. However, none of these have been confirmed for Brevan Howard.
In the short term, RLUSD may have a more defined institutional role. The liquidity of stablecoins on XRP Ledger has recently reached approximately $1.3 billion, of which RLUSD accounts for over 90%.
Ripple is also simultaneously building an institutional credit market around RLUSD and XRPL.
