News from the IT Home on October 8th: According to a report by CCTV News this morning (the 8th), Tibet's first wind power project in the Ali region—the 50,000-kilowatt wind power project of CGN Ali Gaize—has recently completed the installation of all wind turbines and has fully entered the grid connection and commissioning phase. It is planned to be put into operation by the end of 2026.

The project is located on the Ali Snowy Plateau at an altitude of 4,600 to 4,800 meters, where a total of 10 wind turbines with a capacity of 5 megawatts each have been constructed. According to reports, the air in such high-altitude areas is thin and there is a lack of oxygen due to the cold climate. After mid-September, temperatures drop below 0°C, and factors such as strong winds and hail further limit the window of opportunity for transporting large components and carrying out turbine installation work. During the construction process, the project monitored wind speeds in real-time and dynamically adjusted the construction plans to seize the suitable weather conditions, successfully completing the installation of all wind turbines.
During the National Day holiday, more than 60 construction workers remained at the project site. Currently, they are working on the quality acceptance of the project and the debugging of equipment at the step-up substation, in preparation for subsequent grid connection and operation. Once the project is fully operational, it will be able to generate 180 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which is equivalent to reducing about 150,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, effectively filling the gap in clean energy supply in the region.
According to inquiries at the IT website regarding China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, the total planned investment for this project is 280 million yuan. The construction scope includes 10 wind turbines with a single-unit capacity of 5 megawatts, a 10,000-kilowatt energy storage system, as well as supporting facilities such as a 110-kilovolt step-up substation and power collection lines.

The project adopts SI-19050 type wind turbines, which are specifically customized for Alibaba's ultra-high altitude environments of over 5,000 meters. These turbines feature strong adaptability to high altitudes, solid configuration of core components, high platform reliability, and outstanding economic efficiency in power generation, ensuring long-term stable power output for the project. In July this year, the first wind turbine was successfully installed.
