Equilend agrees to connect with Cboe Clear Europe for securities lending; CCP clearing infrastructure

This protocol enables Equilend customers to access the clearing services of Cboe Clear Europe through existing infrastructure.

New York, October 8, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Equilend Today, we announce that we have reached an agreement with Cboe Clear Europe to connect the trading and post-trading infrastructure of Equilend to Cboe Clear Europe's securities lending services. This will enable customers to access central clearing without having to build or maintain their own direct CCP connections. The integration will cover Equilend's NGT trading platform and its post-trading suite, encompassing the entire lifecycle of a settled securities lending transaction.

Equilend Customers will be able to submit transactions for settlement through NGT at the time of execution, or through the post-trade process, covering European and American stocks, fixed income, as well as ETF. This applies to over 20 global CSD. Transactions can be submitted independently via the customer's preferred channels, at the time of transaction completion, or through post-trade submission. The Cboe Clear Europe matching engine will then verify both sides of the transaction.

This solution allows customers to choose Equilend as the service provider, without having to consider the counterparty. This connection can also be integrated into platforms that customers are already using, including Equilend's Spire and 1Source, utilizing existing operational processes and platforms to provide customers with the ability to connect directly without the need for high-cost technical implementation.

Cboe Clear Europe launched the industry's first central clearing service for securities financing transactions in 2025, initially covering European stocks and ETF. This initiative resulted in significant benefits in terms of capital, operations, and risk management. With the strong adoption of the securities lending ecosystem, the service has been expanded this year to include fixed-income products in Europe and the United States. This week, it was announced that U.S. stocks will also be covered, with plans to add more asset classes in the future. CCP The clearing of trading pairs involved in securities lending transactions may also enjoy more favorable capital treatment, a aspect that is attracting increasing attention.

Equilend CEO Rich Grossi stated: "The securities lending market has been evolving towards clearing, and for most participants, the real challenge is how to achieve this without having to rebuild their operational infrastructure. The agreement with Cboe Clear Europe provides our clients with a direct solution, allowing them to access clearing through the infrastructure they already possess, and to manage it flexibly at the time of trading or after execution."

Cboe Clear Europe Product Director Jan Treuren stated: "We see that companies within the securities lending ecosystem have a strong willingness to adopt Cboe Clear Europe's central clearing services. Based on this momentum, we are delighted to further promote adoption through this agreement with Equilend, which will help to integrate central clearing directly into the market's existing workflows."
