IT News on October 12th: According to a report by technology media CNBC today, Intel's CEO Chen Liwu and Broadcom's CEO Chen Fuyang warned that despite the continuous demand for computing infrastructure exceeding supply capacity, funding may become the biggest bottleneck for AI development.
Chen Fuyang stated that as the entire industry competes to build infrastructure, financing is more likely to become the main obstacle to AI expansion compared to semiconductors, storage, and power.
According to the original report, IT, Intel's CEO Chen Liwu also expressed similar concerns. He believes that AI costs are continuously rising, and there is still doubt as to whether the company will be able to obtain sufficient returns after making huge investments in AI.
The remarks of two executives highlight a new challenge that the AI industry is facing. In order to cope with the surge in demand for computing power, major artificial intelligence companies have invested huge amounts of money in building data centers, purchasing advanced chips, and improving power infrastructure.
Despite concerns about financing, the two executives remain optimistic about the demand for AI computing infrastructure in the short term. Chen Fuyang stated, "The market's demand for computing infrastructure exceeds our supply capacity." He added that this imbalance between supply and demand may continue until 2029, and possibly even into 2030.
Chen Liwu also stated that in the next two to three years, it is unlikely that there will be a significant slowdown in the entire industry. He pointed out that the widespread adoption of AI applications and the growing demand for computing power will continue to drive the development of the industry.
