- AnyPS5 is an open-source AI project on GitHub, which can convert PS5 game executable files into programs that can run natively on PC.
- Some speculators believe that this tool allows users to achieve higher gaming performance with high-performance PC to obtain better PS5 game performance.
- Some players hope that the project will allow GTA 6 to run on PC at the time of its release, but members of Discord remind that there may be quite a few obstacles to overcome.
"vibe coder" are in the process of porting PlayStation's 5 applications to Windows and Linux. This has led some users to optimistically believe that this project will not only unlock better performance for PS5 games, but may even enable GTA 6 to run smoothly upon its release.
AnyPS5 is an open-source AI project based on GitHub. It converts the executable files of PS5 games into programs that can run natively on PC, replacing Sony's system libraries with its own. A tracker maintained by the community lists over 180 PS5 games that have been tried with this tool, but only a few have been verified as playable.
It should be emphasized that this is not a simulator; the game will run natively on PC. Therefore, some speculators believe that users may experience better performance when playing PS5 on the high-performance PC.
"‘GTA 6’ is most likely to run smoothly on your PC right from its launch, and the frame rate will be much higher than on PS5," said an anonymous game content creator named Schlayerr on TikTok. "We live in a crazy era."
The person in charge of Web3, Theodore Agranat, said to Decrypt: "Technically speaking, considering the similarity between the host and the PC architecture, this approach is feasible, and it can significantly accelerate the reverse engineering work." However, he still doubts whether they will be able to deliver the quality, performance, and fidelity that players expect in large-scale AAA games.
🚨 ANYPS5 SYSTEM LIBRARY SUPPORT JUST HIT 86%! 🤯🔥
Since Friday, the development progress has been very fast, and the system library section is becoming a key focus worthy of attention in the next phase.
• 3,005 out of 3,475 declared system functions have been implemented
The overall support rate for the system library has now reached 86.47%.
• libc : 99%

The latest update for this project states that the GPU shader for PS5 has been 100% ported, while the system library has been ported to 88%. Members of the Discord community believe that it may still take a long time to port the remaining 12% of the system library, especially since new parts of the system library are still being discovered.
In the display channel of Discord, some users showcased a preliminary demonstration of the PS5 game on PC. A community developer claimed that he was able to run GTA 5 at a frame rate of 27 frames per second in performance graphics mode. Others mentioned that Epic Mickey had only 4 frames per second, Phasmophobia had 25 frames per second, while Vampire Survivors could reach 60 frames per second. The project is still under development.
However, in these examples, the games cannot be fully played yet, as the system library migration has not been completed, and additional game-specific vulnerabilities have also been encountered.
Members of Discord stated that a potential issue hindering the ability for GTA 6 to run on PC upon release is the mandatory firmware update. The reason is that the AnyPS5 project requires converting the files to the latest version in order for GTA 6 to function properly. As a result, there may be a delay in making this game available on PC through AnyPS5.
Agranat said, "Firmware updates may create obstacles, especially in terms of DRM, but they are unlikely to render the entire method ineffective."
Response to Sony's ban on selling optical discs?
AnyPS5 prohibits any form of piracy on its Discord servers, which means that using this tool requires the purchase of games available on PlayStation Store. Nevertheless, individuals can still use pirated game copies in conjunction with AnyPS5.
Some PlayStation users speculate that this move is a response to Sony's plan to stop releasing physical game discs.
"The reason all this happened is that Sony stopped producing optical discs," said anonymous game content creator The 1st Gamer on TikTok. "They wanted to shift to digital versions, and they indeed did so, but they haven't fully implemented it yet on PS5."
In July, Sony announced its plan to cease the production of physical CDs by the beginning of 2028. This decision met with strong backlash from the community, and a petition titled “Don ‘t Kill the Disc” has gathered over 385,000 signatures. A former senior executive of Sony stated that this move was a “decision made after extensive calculations” and claimed that it damaged the company’s reputation.
In August, Sony argued in a California court that purchasing digital games through PlayStation Store does not equate to owning those games. Sony stated that its service terms and software product licensing agreements have made this clear, and users should regard it as such.
“Even if Sony hadn’t stopped producing physical discs, this would have happened anyway, because AI is accelerating its development,” said Agrant. “I hope that such projects can encourage platform providers to offer the same flexibility themselves, but with much higher standards,” he told Decrypt, and he hopes that in the future Sony will be able to release games on both PC and consoles. “That would be a true win-win situation.”
