New York, October 22nd / PRNewswire / -- Pioneer of open-fit headphone technology, Shokz, announced today that for the second consecutive year, it has become the official headphone partner of the TCS New York City Marathon. As the New York Road Runners Association ( New York Road Runners, NYRR ) – the non-profit organizer of this marathon – celebrates the 50th anniversary of this iconic 5-mile course, this partnership will jointly strive to help runners hear every neighborhood, every cheer, and every person's voice through open-fit headphone technology.

"As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic Route 5 course in New York City's Marathon, we are very pleased to welcome Shokz to once again become an official headphone partner," said Christine Burke, Chief Commercial Officer of the New York Road Runners Association. "From innovative products that help runners perceive their surroundings to interactive experiences throughout the marathon week, Shokz and the New York Road Runners Association share a common commitment to enhancing the runner experience and celebrating the vitality, community, and inspiration that make the marathon week so special."

Event Week Cooperation and Experience

Throughout the entire event period, Shokz will collaborate with multiple brands and local businesses to launch activities aimed at attracting runners as well as a broader community in New York City.

To add more sweetness and local flavor to the event week, Shokz will collaborate with New York's iconic dessert shop Glace to launch a special co-branded event. Runners and New Yorkers will have the option to choose between the shop's signature classic S' mores hot chocolate or the seasonal spiced apple cider. From October 29th to 31st, free drink vouchers will be distributed at the TCS booth of the New York City Marathon Expo at Shokz as well as at participating running group events, and they will be available while supplies last. Runners can exchange their voucher for a drink at the store located in the Upper East Side at Glace before November 2nd. During this five-day event, Glace will also offer a limited number of free drinks provided by Shokz inside the store, along with some surprises and special co-branded decorations.

Shokz will also use Marathon Race Voice App of Rally to help runners stay in touch with those who cheer for them. Friends and family can record encouraging messages so that runners can hear these familiar voices during the race, providing them with additional support, confidence, and motivation as they traverse through five administrative districts.

Limited Edition TCS New York City Marathon Headphones

For this year's event, Shokz has launched a limited-edition collaboration with the New York City Marathon, known as OpenRun Pro 2 TCS. These limited-edition headphones feature a unique combination of deep blue and gold colors to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 5th district course. The gift box and headphone case are also printed with patterns of this iconic route. Built on the same performance technology as OpenRun Pro 2, these headphones offer high-quality sound, a battery life of up to 12 hours, and an open design that helps runners perceive their surroundings throughout training and race days.

The New York City Marathon collaboration edition of OpenRun Pro 2 TCS is now available for purchase at Shokz.com for $199.95/C$249.95. These headphones will also be available for purchase at booth #401 during the Shokz at the TCS New York City Marathon Expo from October 29th to 31st.

Shokz Athletes Participate in the Event Week Activities

Shokz will bring some of its elite athletes closer to runners and fans through special appearances and events during the competition period. Conner Mantz, the current holder of the American men's marathon record, will participate in his first marathon since setting the American record in Chicago last year, after recovering from an injury.

On October 29th, Mantz will join host Becs Gentry at the Marathon Expo Citizens Stage to participate in the “Hear the City” event, which will take place from 2 pm to 3 pm. The conversation will revolve around his journey to the starting line, his approach to the New York City course, and how he manages to find strength among the crowd while maintaining his own pace.

On October 30th, the defending TCS New York City Marathon champion and record holder, Hellen Obiri, will participate in an event organized by Shokz in NYRR RUNCENTER. This event is limited to invited guests only and will take place at New Balance Run Hub from 2 PM to 4 PM. The activities include informal conversations by the fire, on-site Q&A sessions, product demonstrations, as well as a 2.5-kilometer relaxation run led by a coach.
