New York, October 23, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Global leading independent credit rating agency Standard & Poor's Global Ratings (S&P P Global Ratings) today launched a new interactive dashboard that dynamically displays its coverage in the field of rated data centers in North America, covering project financing, corporate, and structured financing asset-backed securities ( SF ABS ).
This dashboard integrates information from these three fields, providing an overview of the market, profiles and comparisons of issuers, as well as insights into which states' production capacity is being leased out. This tool was launched in conjunction with Standard & Poor's Global Ratings' fourth-quarter review " North America Data Center Roundup : Fourth-Quarter 2026 " published on October 16, 2026.
Vishal Merani, Managing Director of S&P Global Ratings and Head of the Global Digital Infrastructure Team, stated: "The scope of North American data centers we have rated currently covers 32 digital infrastructure transactions, with the total amount of debt financing for project financing, structured financing ABS, and corporate issuance reaching 105.3 billion US dollars."
Standard & Poor's Global Ratings Director Dhaval Shah stated: "As demand continues to grow, integrating this information in an interactive manner allows us to present a more comprehensive overview of the coverage of data centers that we have rated."
The key points of the fourth quarter review include:
- S&P Global Ratings currently rates a total of 32 digital infrastructure transactions in three main areas: project financing ( PF ) in North America, corporate and structured financing asset-backed securities ( SF ABS ). In terms of the number of issuers, SF ABS issuers account for the majority, at 50%; followed by PF issuers, accounting for 28%; corporations make up 22%.
- The total debt issued by rated issuers has reached $105.3 billion, of which PF accounts for 58.3%, SF ABS accounts for 26.4%, and corporations account for 15.3%.
- These rated transactions are supported by 143 properties and can provide approximately 8.7 gigawatts of capacity to tenants in North America.
- S&P Global Ratings expects that in the foreseeable future, demand for data centers will remain strong, driven by factors such as exponential growth in data volume, cloud migration, and the ongoing digitalization of the global economy.
- S&P Global Ratings believes that power restrictions, challenges in licensing approvals, public opposition, and regulatory responses may delay or limit the development of new data centers.
