XRP is currently trading at around $1.25, which is about 65% lower than the record high of $3.55 set in July 2025. Based on historical drawdown recovery cycles, analysts believe that it may take several years for XRP to return to its historical highs, but past performance does not guarantee that it will repeat in the future.

It may still take nearly three years for XRP to return to its historical highs, based on its past price recovery cycles. XRP is currently trading at around $1.25, which is about 65% lower than its closing record of $3.55 set in July 2025. At the current price, XRP would need to rise by about 184% to reach that level again.

Historical data shows that since 2018, XRP has managed to recover from each of the five major declines that have been identified. However, the recovery times varied from 132 days to 1,326 days, with an average recovery period of about 1,066 days.

This means that XRP may take several years to return to its previous high levels, but past performance does not guarantee that it will recover again.

XRP How long might it take to return to the previous high?

According to analysts cheeky and crypto, the previous repair cycle of XRP can provide a reference for how long investors may need to wait.

The daily closing price data for Binance shows that XRP has experienced six declines of at least 60% from its previous peak. Five of these declines have already ended, while XRP has ultimately returned to its previous high points.

These repair cycles are as follows:

  • Fastest repair time: 132 days
  • Slowest fix: 1,326 days
  • Average repair time: 1,066 days, nearly three years.

However, the improvement represented by XRP did not occur immediately. In five completed cases, in four of them, even one year after falling below the 60% threshold, the price remained below its previous peak.

The decline in January 2018 was even more severe. XRP fell by about 96% from its peak and it took approximately seven and a half years to return to that level.

These examples indicate that XRP may potentially recover to previous highs, but investors might need to wait for more than a year.

XRP What prices does it need to reach before returning to $3.55?

Around $1.25, XRP still needs to recover a few more price levels before reaching its previous historical high again.

  • $1.42: XRP needs to rebound by about 14% to once again exceed this historical low threshold.
  • $1.57: This is the highest closing price recorded since the low point in August.
  • $1.99: If the price breaks above this level, it will mark the end of the current decline according to the historical standards of this analysis.
  • $3.55: The previous closing record high for XRP, representing a 184% increase from $1.25.

XRP previously fell to $0.99 on August 16, which is about 72% lower than its record high. Currently, the price is about 30% below the $1.42 threshold.

If it breaks above $1.42, it would be an early sign of recovery, but XRP still needs to break above $1.99 to have a chance of approaching its previous high.

XRP Will Be Able to Reach a New High in 2027?

Historical data provides three possible price scenarios for the next year (represented by XRP), but these are merely extrapolations based on past trends and do not constitute guarantees.

Bearish scenario: $0.89

If it falls below the August low of $0.99, XRP could drop to $0.89. That would represent a decrease of nearly 30% from $1.25.

Sideways scenario: $1.13

XRP may continue to remain below the $1.42 threshold and trade around $1.13 in the coming year. This indicates that the cryptocurrency is still in a consolidation phase, rather than beginning a strong rebound.

Bullish scenario: $2.75

If it follows a stronger historical recovery path, XRP could rise to around $2.75. This would represent a increase of over 100% from the current price.

Even in this bullish scenario, XRP is still expected to remain below its previous historical high of $3.55.

Therefore, this historical analysis does not prove that XRP will regain its record high in 2027.

What could possibly prevent XRP from returning to its historical highs?

There are several factors that could make the next round of repairs more difficult.

Firstly, the XRP circulating supply has increased by about 64% since its peak in January 2018. If it returns to $3.55 at the current circulating supply, its market value would be approximately $225 billion.

Secondly, the catalysts that drove the previous rise may not repeat themselves. The lawsuit filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Ripple was resolved in August 2025, while the U.S. spot XRP ETF was launched after the price peak in July 2025.

Thirdly, the broader crypto market remains important. During the repair period of XRP in December 2020, the trading price of Bitcoin also approached its own historical high. According to this analysis, the current price of Bitcoin is approximately 38% lower than its record high.

The broader crypto market also indicates that past historical highs are not necessarily going to reappear. Among the other 15 cryptocurrencies that were listed on Binance in 2017 and 2018, only 3 have since set new closing price highs since 2022.

XRP When will it touch new historical highs again?

According to previous repair cycles, the average repair time for XRP was about three years. This means that it is possible for it to take several years to be repaired, but there is no reliable date to determine when XRP will return to $3.55.

Currently, the key levels are $1.42 and $1.99. If the price remains above these levels, it will indicate that it is moving in a positive direction towards recovery; if it falls below $0.99, there may be further downward movement.

In historical analysis, XRP has recovered from all five major declines that have occurred so far. However, past performance does not guarantee that it will once again reach its previous historical highs.
