IA Capital Group announces that Inter - Atlantic Opportunity Fund I has completed its first settlement, with QBE Insurance Group serving as the anchor investor.

The new fund combines the insurance technology investment platform of IA Capital with the strategic perspective of QBE Ventures. At a time when other investors are withdrawing, it supports insurance technology companies through primary and secondary transactions.

New York, November 5, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Venture capital firm IA Capital Group, which has been investing in fintech and insurtech since 2000, announced today that its 11th fund, Inter - Atlantic Opportunity Fund I, has completed its first close. QBE Insurance Group (referred to as “QBE”) participated as the anchor investor in this fund through its group's venture development and investment department, QBE Ventures.

This opportunity fund targets what IA Capital considers to be the growing gap in late-stage financing for fintech and insurtech: as comprehensive investors and corporate investors shift their attention to other areas, the natural sources of growth capital and liquidity for well-operating companies with real income are decreasing.

The fund invests in companies in the fields of fintech, insurtech, and adjacent areas, with a focus primarily on Series B and later stages of development. The fund will make primary investments in companies that IA Capital is familiar with through its portfolio, network of limited partners, and long-term relationships with founders. At the same time, it will also purchase secondary shares from existing holders seeking liquidity, including venture capital projects that have already exited these fields. The investment team of IA Capital, led by general partner Ravi Shah, has so far completed two investments under this opportunity fund: Panacea, which is a US financial platform targeting doctors, dentists, veterinarians, and their clinics; and Aurora, an algorithm-based underwriting platform based in the UK that automates the underwriting of property and accident insurance.

IA Capital Group Managing Partner Andy Lerner stated: "We believe that there are significant opportunities to establish a more flexible model in the field of corporate venture capital. For partners seeking meaningful engagement with innovation, we can provide the infrastructure, network, and investment experience to complement their existing strengths."

For QBE Ventures, this commitment complements its direct investment strategy. The strategy focuses on establishing deeper strategic partnerships with companies that can create value within QBE's global business. This opportunity fund extends this approach, enabling it to access opportunities that are typically difficult for corporate investors to obtain directly.

QBE Ventures CEO James Orchard stated: "In the past few years, many venture capital projects have been scaled back, usually because these investments were not aligned with the core business and strategy. Our investment logic has always been to closely collaborate with our own business, investing in strategic partnerships that have the potential to significantly accelerate the realization of our core priorities." Opportunity Fund complements this approach – it allows us to act quickly and enables us to support quality companies when other investors withdraw.

IA Capital launched its first fund in 2000 and has established strategic investment relationships with insurance companies since 2014. In addition to Opportunity Fund, the company also manages 3 more LP funds, serving 23 insurance companies, as well as 2 single LP funds, which are targeted at Prudential Financial and Goldman Sachs Alternatives respectively.

Wall Street's "panic indicator" records the largest increase since April; why do traders think it could go even higher?
Thursday's options trading showed that traders hardly expected the market to move in this way. The VIX Volatility Index soared by 5.7 points to above 28 during the session, reaching its highest level since March 31; despite the S&P 500 falling by 3%, some traders believed that volatility should have been even higher. At the same time, the trading volume of VIX options also increased significantly.
