The token has currently fallen by over 73% from its peak, and other tokens related to Trump are also under continuous pressure.

World Liberty Financial has launched a long-term buyback program for the governance tokens of its troubled WLFI.

The repurchase may utilize funds from the USD1 stablecoin reserve fees as well as income from other ecosystem sources.

Meanwhile, the WLFI token still fell by over 73% from its high point, highlighting the extent of its decline after the election.

The cryptocurrency project World Liberty Financial ( WLF ), supported by the Trump family, has officially launched a token buyback program WLFI. This move comes at a time when the value of WLFI has still fallen by more than 73% since its self-election.

The following are the details of this repurchase plan.

WLFI Announces a Buyback to Support the Token

On November 6th, World Liberty Financial announced a new buyback program for its WLFI governance token. The company plans to use the revenue generated from its ecosystem, including the fees earned from supporting the reserves of the USD1 stablecoin, to buy back WLFI tokens.

However, WLFI has not yet disclosed how much capital will be invested, nor has it specified when the repurchase will begin.

The purpose of this plan is not merely to reduce the circulating supply of WLFI.

The goal is to encourage active participation in the governance of WLFI and to concentrate voting rights in the hands of our most loyal long-term holders.

It is worth noting that the company has described this repurchase as a long-term plan, rather than a one-time measure. This is important because, out of the WLFI 100 billion token supply, only about 32% are currently in circulation.

The Trump family also holds approximately 38% of the shares in the company behind this project, and their crypto business includes the stablecoins WLFI and USD1.

WLFI, TRUMP, MELANIA: The downtrend deepens.

At the time of this announcement, Trump-related tokens experienced a significant sell-off after the 2026 U.S. mid-term elections, during which the Democratic Party made significant progress in the elections.

WLFI immediately fell by about 10% on election night and faced further pressure on top of its already weak performance. Since hitting a high of $0.1744 in November 2025, WLFI has fallen by more than 73%, and its current trading price is near $0.047.

The pressure is not limited to WLFI. The Official Trump (TRUMP) token has fallen by about 85% in the past year, while the Melania Meme (MELANIA) token has fallen by about 41% since the beginning of this year.

Warren may bring more pressure to Trump's encryption business

As the Democratic Party prepares to take over key congressional committees in January, this repurchase announcement comes along with it.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, who is expected to become the chair of the Senate Banking Committee, has previously criticized crypto businesses associated with Trump and may push for investigations into the Trump family's DeFi business, overseas capital connections, and banking activities.
