SPCX stock drops 4% due to SpaceX slowing down the expansion of AI data centers

According to CoinMeta, SPCX's stock has fallen by 4% due to the slowdown in the expansion of AI data centers by SpaceX. As of September 10th, the trading price of SPCX stock was around $147.55, a decrease of about 3.8% from the previous trading day. The stock is currently far below its peak of $225 in June but still above the $135 price of IPO. The latest concerns stem from SpaceX's data centers, with reports indicating that Elon Musk has replaced several infrastructure leaders due to civil engineering and reliability issues at facilities in Tennessee and Mississippi. More importantly, SpaceX AI has repeatedly postponed plans to build additional facilities outside the Memphis center, including potential sites in Texas. This slowdown is particularly awkward at a time when SpaceX's AI computing rental business generated $2.6 billion in revenue in the second quarter, while the initial plan was to rapidly increase computing capacity. Goldman Sachs predicts that SpaceX AI's revenue could reach $322 billion by 2030, making computing infrastructure an important part of the long-term valuation. Although SpaceX is still exploring data center expansions in Texas, the construction timeline now seems less certain.
