UK Monument Bank delays $330 million tokenization deposit plan until November
2026-09-11 09:25:16
According to CoinMeta, the British digital bank Monument Bank announced that it would postpone the launch of its £250 million (about $330 million) retail tokenized deposit program until November. Founder Mintoo Bhandari stated that the reason for the delay is the lack of custodians in the UK that can meet both the regulatory requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and support zero-knowledge proofs. The bank has found a custodian institution approved by FCA in Canada and plans to issue interest-bearing retail tokenized deposits based on the Midnight blockchain.
