According to CoinMeta, the Canadian Financial Institutions Supervision Office stated that it adopts a technologically neutral stance regarding the services and activities permitted for financial institutions. Tokenized deposits and other digital deposits are not legally different from traditional deposits. The office requires financial institutions and their representatives to comply with applicable laws and regulations when conducting such innovative services, and to follow guidance documents such as B-13 "Technology and Cyber Risk Management" and B-10 "Third-Party Risk Management." Before launching new products or services, financial institutions should communicate in advance with the regulatory authorities responsible for supervision and seek legal advice as appropriate.
