According to CoinMeta, Maharashtra, the largest state in India by economic size, is drafting a policy for the tokenization of state-owned assets. The plan involves putting public assets, including electricity transmission infrastructure, onto the blockchain, allowing investors to share in the related revenues, and using the funds raised to build new transmission lines and solar energy storage facilities. The chief economic advisor of the state's policy agency, Praveen Pardeshi, stated that 40% to 50% of the transmission lines could be considered for tokenization in order to introduce social capital while maintaining government control over the underlying assets. Maharashtra has previously pushed forward with real estate tokenization legislation and requested the drafting of Delta Act in July, but it is still in the draft stage at present.
