Universal Protocol Announces Shutdown in November 2026
2026-09-20 09:07:50
According to CoinMeta, Universal Protocol has announced that it will cease operations on November 17, 2026, due to insufficient market adoption. During a 60-day transition period, uassets will be supported 1:1 by the underlying assets, and users will be able to sell or redeem them through the Universal application. After the protocol stops, the usol, uxrp, udoge, uada, ubtc, and ultc on the base chain are planned to be exchanged for corresponding bridge assets via smart contracts, while the remaining uassets will be exchanged for USDC. Universal Protocol completed a $9 million financing last February, with a16z leading the investment and Coinbase Ventures among others participating.
