According to CoinMeta, and as reported by the Turkish Ministry of Justice, Turkish law enforcement authorities have dismantled a transnational network suspected of defrauding foreigners through fake foreign exchange and cryptocurrency investment platforms. To date, 201 suspects have been detained. The investigation revealed that the network attracted victims with promises of high returns through social media and the internet, displayed false profits on the platforms it controlled, and demanded further payments from the victims under pretexts such as account freezes and taxes when they attempted to withdraw their funds. The funds were subsequently transferred to overseas bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets. The Turkish authorities stated that the network's transaction volume over the past two years amounted to approximately 13 billion Turkish lira (about 266 million US dollars). Law enforcement has seized around 1.5 billion lira in assets, 80 vehicles, and 12 properties, and has also frozen related bank accounts, cryptocurrency assets, and company accounts.
