Beni: Doubts about Kalshi's practice of artificially inflating the volume of encrypted transactions
2026-09-21 10:35:12
According to CoinMeta, quantitative analyst Beni published a statement questioning the practice of market forecasting platform Kalshi of artificially inflating the volume of crypto transactions. He pointed out that although the open interest of Kalshi's ETH-PERP is approximately $3.1 million, the 24-hour trading volume reached $538.6 million, which is equivalent to about 174 trades per day. Beni stated that the largest single position of Kalshi's ETH-PERP is only about $17,600, which indicates a discrepancy with the scale of trading volume. He mentioned that documents submitted by Kalshi to CFTC show that the trading cost for market makers is 0 basis points, and that Kalshi and Jump Trading have reached a cooperation agreement to exchange liquidity for equity. Beni questioned Kalshi for displaying the number of trading contracts as volume and presenting it in US dollar symbols, which may lead users to misunderstand the actual transaction amounts.
