According to CoinMeta, the Trump administration estimates that due to the significantly relaxed vehicle fuel economy standards agreed upon on Monday, General Motors’ (GM) technical costs will be reduced by $20.4 billion by 2031. The US Department of Transportation stated that as a result, automakers’ total technical costs will be reduced by $60.6 billion by 2031, which is approximately $1.89 per vehicle. Previously, it was estimated that if the original 2024 fuel economy standards were implemented, General Motors would incur costs of $31.7 billion by 2031.
