According to CoinMeta, as the pressure of living costs increases, libraries are becoming a solution for people to manage their expenses. In some areas, there has been a surge in the number of new members this month. The library in Glenview, Illinois, has collaborated with 25 local businesses to offer discounts to cardholders, ranging from a 10% discount on drinks in September to free robot courses. According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, ticket prices for movies, theaters, and concerts have increased by 27% since before the pandemic. Libraries not only provide thousands of free books, movies, and television programs but also offer discounts on everyday purchases. The Brooklyn Public Library saw an increase of 150,018 new registered cardholders by August, a 16% growth compared to two years ago. As of August 31, Glenview added 2,656 new cardholders, an 8% increase from last year. The borrowing of audiobooks, movies, e-books, and streaming television content at this library has also increased by 38%.
