According to CoinMeta, Bain & Company stated that the global artificial intelligence industry will need to achieve an annual revenue of $6 trillion by 2031 in order to justify the large-scale capital investments currently being made in building data centers around the world. In its annual global technology report released on Tuesday, Bain noted that existing AI services for consumers and businesses are expected to contribute at most $1.8 trillion of this revenue, meaning that the industry still needs to generate approximately $4.2 trillion in additional revenue. Bain believes that this gap could be filled by emerging fields such as automated equipment and robotics, as well as application scenarios in drug development, mental health, and energy production. David Crawford, head of Bain's Global Technology, Media, and Telecommunications practice and a key author of the report, stated that the AI industry is in need of a wave of innovation that far exceeds that of the mobile internet and cloud computing eras. He pointed out that the current pace of AI infrastructure construction is already significantly ahead of the growth in demand, and to achieve sustainable financing, the global GDP annual growth rate needs to be increased by about 1 percentage point.
