KB Kookmin Bank and BNY Sign a Digital Wallet Payment Agreement

According to CoinMeta, KB Kookmin Bank announced the signing of a strategic agreement with BNY, covering cross-border digital asset payments and remittances, with the aim of expanding its international payment services. BNY confirmed that Kookmin Bank is one of the first banks in the Asia-Pacific region to utilize its new payment-to-wallet feature, which allows banks to directly send cross-border payments from customer bank accounts to participating retail digital wallets through existing SWIFT messages and corresponding banking infrastructure. This memorandum of understanding was signed on September 28, 2026, at the SIBOS conference in Miami Beach, Florida. The agreement also includes cooperation in digital payments, digital assets, and cross-border remittance services. Kookmin Bank stated that the first use cases will focus on overseas remittance services, including for foreign residents and international students.
