CoinMeta Data: Citibank ( Citi ) is entering the $300 billion stablecoin market, Ripple driving its RLUSD deep into institutional settlements. Citibank's payment partnership with Coinbase was announced on September 28th, Coinbase choosing Citibank's virtual account wallet to support the automatic conversion of fiat currency into stablecoins. Citibank's institutional customers will also accept stablecoin payments through Coinbase infrastructure. According to CoinDesk research, the total market value of stablecoins soared to approximately $311 billion in August, marking that blockchain dollars have entered a market worth hundreds of billions. Citibank's move aims to directly connect corporate bank accounts with blockchain currencies, allowing companies to receive fiat currency through Citibank accounts and convert it into stablecoins without the need to establish separate banking and crypto systems. This trend reflects Wall Street banks' desire to have their own digital dollars. Ripple has been continuously expanding its business in recent years, and RLUSD , custody, and financial services infrastructure are part of its strategy for institutional finance.
