NEAR Co-founder: It is necessary to prevent Bitget hackers from accessing funds
2026-09-29 18:04:32
According to CoinMeta, NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin recently defended NEAR Intents against accusations related to the hack by Bitget, stating that having an open blockchain does not mean that every application must process every transaction. He said, "Open blockchain means that anyone can own and transfer assets or deploy contracts on it without permission, but it does not mean that every application or liquidity provider must process every transaction." The general manager of NEAR Intents, Alex Shevchenko, revealed that the attackers attempted to transfer over $50 million in stolen funds through NEAR Intents; approximately $166,000 was successfully transferred, while $503,000 was frozen during the process. Shevchenko also stated that these funds will remain restricted until the appropriate legal and recovery procedures are completed.
