According to CoinMeta, modveon and Coinbase have collaborated to launch a payment app Sivar in El Salvador, which connects to Coinbase's payment infrastructure to provide a low-cost channel for remittances between the US and El Salvador. The app includes a non-hosted wallet, and users can deposit funds using debit cards through Coinbase and onramp. Verified transfers between users are facilitated by Coinbase API, and settlements are made in stablecoins on the Base blockchain. US-compliant users are charged a fixed fee of $2 per transaction when remitting to verified recipients in El Salvador, while recipients in El Salvador can withdraw cash at over 1,000 local outlets.
