According to CoinMeta, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a voluntary AI agreement with six technology leaders on Tuesday, requiring companies to self-regulate their AI systems. Trump rejected calls for federal regulation. The agreement establishes a four-tier supervision mechanism, requiring companies to establish internal controls and monitor the behavior of their models from training to deployment, with special attention to hacker, biological, and chemical risks. Each company is also required to cooperate with external auditors for independent testing, and the audit results will be reviewed by an independent committee. Trump signed the agreement alongside representatives from Anthropic, Google’s Sundar Pichai, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI’s Greg Brockman, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, and XAI’s Elon Musk. Although the agreement promises regular meetings to establish standards and best practices, its effectiveness may be limited due to its voluntary nature. Trump stated that he will appoint supervisors in the near future and hinted that the committee will consist of about 10 people.
