Herdr is not just limited to being the Agent version of tmux anymore: The new desktop version allows AI to modify its own interface and functions.

According to CoinMeta, Herdr has announced the launch of a new desktop version that allows AI to modify the interface and functions at will. Herdr was originally a terminal manager designed specifically for AI programming tools, similar to the Agent version of tmux. Developers can run multiple Claude Code and Codex simultaneously, monitor task progress, and enable tasks to assign work to each other and wait for results. Even if the terminal window is closed, background tasks can continue to run. The newly launched open-source projects include the Herdr-core runtime and native desktop applications developed based on it. Herdr-core has redeveloped the background capabilities that were previously integrated into the terminal tool into an independent service, providing a standardized interface through which developers can directly run and schedule Agent. The accompanying desktop applications allow users to modify the interface layout, shortcuts, and function panels, with support for real-time updates. All three projects adopt the Apache 2.0 open-source protocol.
