According to CoinMeta, the Ministry of Commerce announced that China has for the first time included special provisions for protecting source code in the China-Switzerland bilateral free trade agreement. A person in charge of the International Department of the Ministry of Commerce explained that the agreement adds a dedicated chapter on digital trade, in which both parties commit not to impose tariffs on electronic transmissions, to strengthen the protection of personal information, to fully implement digital customs clearance, and to reduce transaction costs. In addition, both parties also commit to cooperating in areas such as artificial intelligence and electronic bills of lading, injecting momentum into deepening bilateral digital economy cooperation. This move marks an important breakthrough in China's construction of digital trade rules, and the inclusion of non-discriminatory rules for telecommunications infrastructure in the agreement is the first time China has reached such institutional arrangements with a European country.
