According to CoinMeta, Sam奥特曼 from OpenAI CEO met with about 50 executives from the Samsung Group in South Korea on October 31 to discuss deepening cooperation in the fields of storage chips and AI infrastructure. The participants came from Samsung's business departments such as electronics, finance, and biotechnology, and the topics covered the impact of AI on industry, corporate decision-making, and business opportunities over the next decade. This meeting took place at a time when there is a global shortage of storage chips and prices are continuously rising, leading to a surge in demand from data center operators and further intensifying competition for chip supply. The world's top five AI infrastructure players plan to invest over $3 trillion in the coming years, with storage chips accounting for about one-third of data center expenditures. This meeting also continued the previous cooperation announced by both parties, including supplying storage chips for OpenAI's "Stargate" infrastructure project and jointly building AI data centers, which include solutions such as offshore floating data centers.
