According to CoinMeta, NXT Technology Holding ( NXT ), a software company listed on NASDAQ, stated that its board of directors has authorized the sale or mortgage of approximately 5,833 bitcoins in batches, worth about $449 million. The company mentioned that reasons for the sale include the Binance hack incident, exchange vulnerabilities, and the potential threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin cryptography. NXT indicated that none of its bitcoins are stored on Binance. CEO Liu Weihong will decide on the timing, price, and scale of the transactions, authorizing the exchange to sell, privately negotiate transactions, and conduct bitcoin mortgage financing, but does not guarantee that the transactions will be completed. Most of the company's bitcoins come from a transaction in March 2025, when 5,000 BTC were acquired for a total consideration of $158.1 million, which is approximately $31,600 per coin.
