Coinbase has expanded its collaboration with Webull's encryption infrastructure to Canada. As a result, the number of markets covered by this partnership has increased to four, including not only Canada but also the United States, Brazil, and Australia. For Webull, this means that they can integrate encryption transaction capabilities into existing brokerage platforms without having to build their own underlying systems.

Webull Canadian Access to Trading and Custody

Webull Canada will utilize the Crypto-as-a-Service services of Coinbase to integrate digital asset trading, liquidity, and institutional-level custody capabilities. Users will still complete account opening, fund deposit, position viewing, and order placement within the Webull platform, while the underlying matching and custody functions will be supported by Coinbase.

As previously disclosed, Webull Canada will launch cryptocurrency trading services after obtaining regulatory approval. According to their statement in June, the platform plans to support 24-hour trading, with the first batch of assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano, and Litecoin.

Canada's holding rate rises to 25%

Coinbase Quoting a 2025 survey on crypto assets by the Ontario Securities Commission ( OSC ), approximately one-quarter of Canadians hold crypto assets or crypto funds, which is higher than the 10% in 2023. Among respondents classified as investors, this proportion reaches 39%.

The survey also shows that approximately 30% of Canadians have held crypto assets at some point in time, and among those who currently hold them, 74% directly possess the coins through exchanges or other platforms. Webull's promotion of related services in Canada is precisely based on this growing demand.

Cryptocurrency is not within the coverage of CIPF.

Webull Canada Crypto Limited is currently regulated by the Canadian investment regulatory organization CIRO in its capacity as an investment trader, providing only order execution services without offering portfolio advice to clients. This means that it is up to the clients to make their own trading decisions.

It should be noted that the entity responsible for securities business, Webull, is covered by the Canadian Investor Protection Fund ( CIPF ). However, its disclosure documents clearly state that crypto assets themselves are not within the scope of protection provided by CIPF. Some eligible accounts' cash may be protected within the applicable limits, but this protection does not extend to digital assets.

Coinbase Continues to expand its product line

In addition to its collaboration with Webull, Coinbase has also been recently advancing more products that connect blockchain technology with traditional financial markets. Earlier in August, the company launched trading services for nearly 4,000 U.S. stocks to eligible customers in the UK, and introduced stock token products for non-U.S. users on Base.

Additional information:Coinbase In June, a European operations center under the MiCA framework was launched in Luxembourg, enabling the provision of compliant encryption services to the 27 member states of the EU through a licensing mechanism.
