According to Bitget, in August 2025, the average valuation of its protection fund was $382 million. Since the fund is primarily denominated in Bitcoin, the rise in Bitcoin in the second half of August significantly increased the dollar value of this reserve.
Once rose to $441.5 million within the month
According to the latest disclosure from Bitget, this protection fund reached a high of $441.5 million on August 27th and a low of $345.3 million on August 1st. Throughout August, the fund's valuation remained above the initially set level of $300 million.
The fund's position size has not changed, remaining at 5,500 Bitcoin coins, so the valuation fluctuations basically follow the changes in Bitcoin prices. The daily data published by Bitget also shows that in August, Bitcoin prices ranged between $62,773 and $80,268.

Position unchanged, valuation fluctuates with coin prices
At the beginning of August, the price of Bitcoin was around $62,773. In the second half of the month, the price began to rise rapidly and once broke through $80,000. By the end of August, Bitcoin was trading at $78,553, an increase of over 25% from August 1st. Against this backdrop, the valuation of the protection fund at the end of the month was approximately $432 million.
Bitget indicates that this fund was established in 2022 and is primarily intended to provide additional protection for users in extreme market conditions or during emergencies. Since its reserve assets are mainly composed of Bitcoin, its value in US dollars will fluctuate in tandem with market prices.
Disclosed separately from reserve certificates
Bitget also mentioned that the protection fund is not the same as the platform's reserve certification system. The latter is mainly used to show whether the platform holds sufficient assets to cover users' balances; the former is an additional layer of reserve pool.
This update also coincides with Bitget's expansion of its business scope. In addition to traditional encrypted transactions, the platform will soon extend its services to tokenize traditional financial assets, including stocks, ETF, commodities, and foreign exchange products.
Additional information:From the disclosed content, it is evident that in the context of exchanges listing more asset classes, reserve transparency and asset coverage capability remain important indicators for assessing counterparty risks of platforms. For Bitget, the protection fund provides an additional buffer, but its dollar value is still subject to fluctuations in the price of Bitcoin.
