Amsterdam, October 1st / PRNewswire / -- Hansa Biopharma AB (Nasdaq Stockholm: HNSA) today announced a partnership with Cradle. Hansa Biopharma is a pioneer company focused on the treatment of rare IgG-related immune diseases; Cradle has built a leading AI motor protein design and engineering platform for biologics.
Hansa will utilize Cradle's end-to-end platform throughout its entire R&D process to design, optimize, and advance new therapeutic candidates. Both parties stated that with the help of Cradle's AI motor protein engineering platform, the goal is to accelerate the development of new therapies for patients suffering from severe autoimmune diseases.
The main product of Hansa, imlifidase, is a pioneering enzyme that has already been commercially sold in Europe under the brand Idefirix. It is currently undergoing review by the US regulatory authorities FDA with a PDUFA scheduled for December. This product is suitable for highly sensitized patients awaiting kidney transplantation.
Hansa, the person in charge of research and early development, Sofia J and rnum stated: "We evaluated various AI models and suppliers, and ultimately chose Cradle because it possesses three capabilities that we believe are crucial for the next generation of protein engineering: end-to-end support covering the entire R&D process from hit identification; multi-parameter optimization for complex engineering goals; and active learning using our own data to drive increasingly predictable results. Each of these capabilities can accelerate our laboratory's closed-loop process. The platform of Cradle enables Hansa scientists to design and engineer better therapeutic candidates faster and with more confidence."
The company stated that this collaboration reflects Hansa's ongoing strategic investment in AI driven drug discovery. As they extend the application of AI to new research and development projects, it is also part of their effort to build the next generation of pipeline. Hansa mentioned that Cradle has already achieved results in collaborating with leading biopharmaceutical companies, making them a natural partner. Both parties believe that this also reflects the industry's growing shift towards unified AI platforms, which integrate candidate generation, optimization, and continuous learning from experimental data into a single workflow. Cradle indicated that their clients can see a reduction in development cycles of up to 18 months, which means that the research and development costs for each clinical candidate may be significantly lowered.
Cradle CEO and Co-Founder Stef van Grieken stated: "The future of multimodal therapy engineering is not about investing more AI computing power or juggling between a bunch of models, but about empowering scientists to use a platform that can learn with them, while allowing them to apply their unique human expertise to solve complex molecular challenges quickly and accurately on a scaled-up basis. We are delighted to collaborate with Hansa to help accelerate the discovery and development of new, high-quality therapies for patients with rare and severe autoimmune diseases."
