Wisconsin Pewaukee, October 7th / PRNewswire / -- Real Time Automation, Inc. ( RTA) Today, we announce the launch of the new 435NBX- S2E hardware module. This is a single serial port ASCII and single Ethernet port protocol gateway that can communicate directly with Allen - Bradley PLC, including CompactLogix, ControlLogix, FlexLogix, MicroLogix, SLC 5/05, PLC-5E, Micro820, Micro850, and Micro870 PLC.

RTA CEO John Rinaldi stated: "Integrators can directly use their existing trusted 435NBX configuration processes to transmit the raw ASCII data from scanners, scales, printers, or RFID readers directly into PLC, with very little PLC code required. The new change is that native Micro800 support has been added at the underlying level, as well as an automatic PLC discovery function built into the browser configuration page. Therefore, you can find the controller, map the data, and then proceed without the need for additional hardware."

Main Advantages:

  • Save engineering time: Built-in PLC discovery feature, and no need for ladder diagram logic (no need for MSG instructions, no need for EDS / AOP configurations). This reduces debugging time from several hours of custom coding to just five minutes of browser setup.
  • Reduce hardware and BOM costs: Native Micro800 support eliminates the need for external serial port plug-in modules, additional protocol converters, or paying for unused second ports.
  • Eliminate training barriers: By adopting the same tag-handshake architecture that on-site engineers are already familiar with, the existing standard code templates can be completely maintained without the need for re-training.

New content:

  • Micro800 Support: Manufacturers can utilize serial ASCII data in small-scale applications without having to write cumbersome custom message logic or purchase expensive and complex communication cards.
  • More cost-effective design: A more streamlined hardware footprint and single-port design provide a more cost-effective option for mass production and OEM customers.
  • Automatic PLC discovery: It is possible to automatically detect connected Allen - Bradley PLC devices through the built-in browser-based configuration page, without engineers needing to know the IP addresses of these devices, nor is there a need to purchase any additional hardware that can perform this discovery function.

Reliable ASCII functions

S2E brings the 435NBX functionality, which has already been trusted by control engineers, integrators, and OEM, to new hardware platforms, while expanding the features while maintaining the core ASCII string processing unchanged. 435NBX provides:

  • Complete processing of serial ASCII on RS-232 and RS-485.
  • Messages can be flexibly parsed based on character length, bus idle time, or custom delimiters.
  • It is possible to configure leading and trailing delimiters for outgoing strings.
  • Simple browser web interface consistent with the classic 435NBX workflow

Supply Situation

435NBX- S2E has now become the standard single-port ASCII gateway for RTA, replacing the 435NBX- NNA1 which has officially ceased production and sales. 435NBX- S2E is available for immediate ordering.
