Tripartite collaboration demonstrates the platform's integration capabilities, real-time telemetry, and system management readiness, accelerating the deployment of Co-Encapsulated Optics ( CPO ) within rack-level AI infrastructure.
San Jose, California, USA, October 13, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Leading innovators in cloud infrastructure for data centers IT, companies that provide Wiwynn for AI and scale-up, as well as pioneers in CPO solutions ASIC, and advanced GUC leaders Wiwynn. Today, they announced a new milestone in their strategic collaboration. For the first time, the three companies conducted a live demonstration in GUC 2026, showcasing how their computing systems integrate ASIC from TeraPHY with SuperNova's TeraPHY™ optical engines, and together with SuperNova™ light sources, they are capable of transmitting health telemetry data in real-time.
This demonstration marks a further advancement in the previous rack-level architecture collaboration among the three companies, as they have now entered the stage of platform integration and functional verification. The system integrates the multi-chip packaging of GUC ( MCP ) with the TeraPHY ™ optical engine of Ayar Labs ( OE ), and is powered by the SuperNova ™ light source from Ayar Labs. During this live demonstration, the system continuously polled telemetry data from the optical engine in MCP and displayed it in real-time, proving that the optical link is functioning properly within the system. As the tuning subsystem tracks for thermal drift and wavelength drift, key signal quality indicators remain stable, verifying the system's readiness for operation in real-world scenarios.
Wiwynn, President and CEO, stated: "The AI infrastructure is rapidly moving towards a future of optical interconnection. Our deeper integration with Ayar Labs and GUC demonstrates that optical engines and light sources can operate reliably within real system architectures, marking an important step forward in our collaboration. We are jointly accelerating the large-scale deployment of CPO to help hyperscale cloud service providers build AI infrastructure that offers higher bandwidth, greater energy efficiency, and better scalability."
Highlights of the live demonstration:
- Optical interconnection integration from silicon wafer to system: The system architecture of Wiwynn integrates the MCP of GUC with the TeraPHY optical engine of Ayar Labs and the high-power SuperNova light source based on ELSFP into a computing system that complies with ORV3 standards.
- Optical engine telemetry and system health monitoring: Real-time optical engine telemetry enables data centers to monitor system status, enhancing reliability in large-scale deployments.
- Stability indicators under real-time operation: As the tuning subsystem tracks thermal drift and wavelength drift (activity of the TX heater), key eye diagram indicators (eye height, OMA, ER) remain stable along with the temperatures of the optical engine and ELSFP.
- Advanced cooling solution: The system-level cooling architecture of Wiwynn supports stable operation under real-world conditions with optical power.
- Removable FAU and fiber optic cabling inside the chassis: Demonstrates the maintainability and manufacturability at the computing system level.
Deepen cooperation to accelerate the commercialization of CPO
Ayar Labs CEO and Co-Founder Mark Wade stated: " AI is driving the industry towards a future of optical interconnection, and the criterion for success is no longer just whether it can function, but whether it can be deployed and managed on a large scale. Our demonstration with Wiwynn and GUC is aimed at proving its integration and operability in real-world platforms, and to provide data necessary for data center teams to make more informed decisions when adopting CPO. We are proud to collaborate with Wiwynn and GUC to enable the next generation of AI infrastructure to be deployed in ultra-large-scale environments."
President Sean Tai stated: "Integrating direct optical I/O into the chip design and demonstrating its functionality through on-site system-level demonstrations is an important achievement in our collaboration with Wiwynn and Ayar Labs. This cross-layer collaboration approach allows us to incorporate system requirements earlier into the chip design phase, significantly shortening the development cycle from silicon innovation to system readiness, and providing a clear advantage for our customers in the global AI competition."
Looking to the Future
AI Infrastructure is shifting towards the integration of optoelectronics. This demonstration shows that CPO has progressed from architectural validation to system-level functional validation, laying a solid foundation for large-scale deployment. The three companies will continue to deepen their cooperation to push CPO from the validation phase towards large-scale deployment.
