According to CoinMeta, X has sued Vivek Kumar Sen and Zmyang Sherpa for establishing a network of fake Bitcoin news accounts in order to profit from X’s creator fund. The amount in dispute is at least £207,000 (approximately $277,000), with further damages yet to be quantified. The nine accounts mentioned in the lawsuit spread fake “breaking” news headlines containing unsubstantiated claims such as Goldman Sachs’ CEO pushing for an encryption bill and Citibank purchasing $12.6 million worth of Bitcoin. The defendants are also accused of creating the illusion of false participation through likes, replies, and forwards, and of soliciting business from third parties to purchase high-following accounts. On August 18, X terminated all accounts related to this network on the grounds of “coordinating income-sharing fraud and platform manipulation.” X now seeks the return of payments made to creators and claims compensation for losses incurred due to fraud and conspiracy.
