According to CoinMeta, Coinbase's chief cryptographer, Yehuda Lindell, stated that Coinbase is designing a hosting system that can adapt to any post-quantum signature schemes that Bitcoin may adopt in the future. This system will be centered around programmable hardware security modules (HSM), with private keys being encrypted using post-quantum cryptography, and will only be assembled within physically secure HSM. The aim is to support any post-quantum signature scheme in order to accommodate future upgrades to Bitcoin technology.
