OKX US CEO: Tokenized stocks must retain the rights of traditional shareholders
2026-09-24 02:33:12
According to CoinMeta, OKX US CEO Roshan Robert indicates that tokenized stocks must retain the shareholder rights of traditional stocks, as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has begun a five-year test of blockchain-based trading of U.S. stocks. He pointed out that holders of tokenized national market system stocks should enjoy the same rights and privileges as traditional stocks. Under the five-year trading exemption order of SEC, qualified venues can use licensed automated market makers and liquidity pools to trade tokenized versions of certain U.S. listed stocks, with the exemption order expiring on September 17, 2031, unless SEC leads to any changes. The order requires venues to verify that each tokenized stock provides the same categories of rights and privileges as traditional stocks.
