According to CoinMeta, as reported by Decrypt, the China Cyberspace Administration has launched investigations into DeepSeek and Moonshot due to allegations that these two companies secretly transferred sensitive user data to servers in Anthropic. Officials have visited these companies to interview executives and employees to investigate whether any sensitive data from police, military, and state-owned enterprises flowed onto American servers. Anthropic had previously accused Chinese laboratories of misusing the outputs of its Claude model to train cheaper competitors. The investigation was triggered by a fourth threat intelligence report released on September 10 by Anthropic, which alleged that seven Chinese laboratories, including DeepSeek and Moonshot, were engaged in "illegal distillation" of such data.
