Bitget CEO: $3.52 million hacker attack carried out through forged transfers
2026-09-25 13:14:00
According to CoinMeta, the CEO of the crypto exchange Bitget, Gracy Chen, stated that the platform lost $3.516 million in a hack attack. The attackers forged transfer requests to move funds but did not steal the private keys. Chen explained that the attackers infiltrated the critical backend systems of the wallet infrastructure, forged transaction data, and triggered the authorization process. She emphasized that the private keys were not leaked, and the method of attack is relatively less concerning. The user protection fund of Bitget holds over $464 million, which is sufficient to cover all losses. Chen also confirmed that users' funds are safe, transactions are still ongoing, but withdrawals have been frozen and will be resumed after a security review.
