According to CoinMeta, seven British banks, including Barclays, HSBC UK, Lloyds, Monzo, Nationwide, NatWest, and Santander, completed the world's first cross-bank tokenized pound deposit customer transaction under the leadership of UK Finance. Lloyds, NatWest, and Barclays carried out two mortgage refinancings, while HSBC and two other banks completed peer-to-peer payments simulating online shopping. The platform was built by Quant, with EY responsible for project management, and Nothern Rock drafted the rules. The project plans to establish a company and develop a rule manual, with the expectation of issuing three digital bonds that can be traded using tokenized deposits in the first quarter of 2027.
